New Script Announced

by Tom on Jan.21, 2010, under Userbar Script

We have a new script in the making. It will be a userbar similar to the MyBB and vBulletin addon I created. However this will include its own admin + user control panels. Users will be able to choose the background colours, as well as the info displayed on their userbar using drop down boxes. Admins will be able to add items to the drop down boxes that link the options to different columns in any table in the database.

I am planning to release the 1st BETA by the end of February.

To-Do:
- User CP
- Admin CP
-Theme/look

Done:
- Simple User CP, with login
- Userbar script itself (can display data from options defined in database)
- Database Backend.

Other expected features of final release:
- MyBB/vBulletin/IPB etc… intergration
- Automated installer

There is now a new blog category for this script. I will post updates here.
Enjoy :)

by Tom on Dec.30, 2009, under GFX-Core.com's Progress

GFX-Core’s smilies have finally been fixed. I’ve been quite busy recently fixing another bug with the forum and these sort of got pushed to the bottom of my list. However I did some SQL and fixed the image location bug. I dont know how it happened but it should be fixed now.

Windows server installed!

by Tom on Dec.19, 2009, under Windows Server 2008

I have recently joined the microsoft academy and now have access to a great site called Dreamspark!

Dreamspark logo
www.dreamspark.com

This allows me to download great software for free, which allowed me to download Windows Server 2008 Standard edition.

Windows Server 2008 is built from the same code base as Windows Vista; therefore, it shares much of the same architecture and functionality. Since the code base is common, it automatically comes with most of the technical, security, management and administrative features new to Windows Vista such as the rewritten networking stack (native IPv6, native wireless, speed and security improvements); improved image-based installation, deployment and recovery; improved diagnostics, monitoring, event logging and reporting tools; new security features such as BitLocker and ASLR; improved Windows Firewall with secure default configuration; .NET Framework 3.0 technologies, specifically Windows Communication Foundation, Microsoft Message Queuing and Windows Workflow Foundation; and the core kernel, memory and file system improvements. Processors and memory devices are modelled as Plug and Play devices, to allow hot-plugging of these devices. This allows the system resources to be partitioned dynamically using Dynamic Hardware Partitioning; each partition has its own memory, processor and I/O host bridge devices independent of other partitions.

(Windows server 2008 – Wikipedia)

It took a while to download but ,with a bit of patience, I finally got it downloaded last night. I extracted the files from the ISO image and booted it from an external hard disk and the install went great! It finished installing after about an hour and is in setup phase now. I’ll be back later to tell you how it goes.

Tom joins the Microsoft IT Academy

by Tom on Dec.17, 2009, under General Chat

Hey guys, its a while since I’ve posted as I’ve been quite busy. However I have now joined the Microsoft IT Academy – a scheme to help students get involved in Microsoft Systems.

The scheme alows users to download many paid applicaitons – absolutely FREE! This includes Windows server (2003,2008 and 2008 R2), Visual basic (many editions of this) as well as XNA Game designer (used to create XBOX games) and Robotics Developer Studio 2008 as well as hundreds of FAQ’s, Tutorials, online exams etc…

Why? Well my school is a Microsoft Academy so they are allowed to give out IT Academy Passes to student – and I’m one of them!

Looking forward to posting my results. I’m currently downloading Windows Server 2008 to experiment with some Active Directory!
